'The Expanse' Season 2 Spoilers News: Did Miller Die?

Syfy leaves "The Expanse" fans with a homage video that ends with a few, heavy words: "Goodbye Miller we hardly knew ye." The science fiction series continues on Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. Central Time.

"The Expanse" fans, at least those who haven't read ahead of the show through the book series written by science fiction author James S. A. Corey, will be in for a huge shock. Just like in the books upon which "The Expanse" is based on, Detective Josephus "Joe" Aloisus Miller (Thomas Jane) dies a hero.

In the last episode for Jane in his role as Miller, the police detective succeeded in swaying Juliette "Julie" Andromeda Mao (Florence Faivre) to save Earth at the cost of his own life. As it happened in the latest episode titled "Home," Miller finally brought the bomb to Eros, which is speeding toward Earth. Hoping to remotely detonate the bombs to prevent Eros from crashing into the planet, complication arose when debris damaged one of the explosive devices.

Miller chose to stay with the bombs in Eros, in which the plan was for him to guide the destructive device into the heart of the asteroid to destroy it. The asteroid somehow evaded the planetary defense nuclear missiles at the incoming Eros, so the crew of the "Rocinante" gave chase to provide a target lock to guide the missiles toward the speeding rock. Eros responded by speeding forward, leaving the "Rocinante" behind.

Miller finally arrived with the bomb at the center of Eros and found Mao, who was transformed by the protomolecule. Finally understanding what it is that he needed to do, Miller removed his protective suit and broke through to the changed Mao, convincing her to redirect Eros away from Earth.

Eros flew away toward Venus, where it was seemingly destroyed in a destructive event of a planetwide scale.

Tune in to Syfy on Wednesdays 9:00 p.m. Central Time for the second season of the science fiction series. Watch the Miller homage video for "The Expanse" season 2 below.
