'The Expanse' Season 3 Announced for 2018

Critically acclaimed science fiction series "The Expanse" has just been renewed for its third season, ahead of the nearing close of the show's season 2. The Syfy show is set to premiere its season 3 in 2018, while new episodes are still ongoing in its current run every Wednesday, 10:00 p.m. EDT.

As Syfy goes back to its accustomed fare of epic space and sci-fi series like the "Battlestar Galactica," critic-favorite "The Expanse" was among the first to get commissioned for a new season. According to Deadline, "The Expanse" could be the series to follow in the steps of "Battlestar Galactica" in terms of scope, themes and the big budget production from Alcon Television and the Sean Daniel Company.

"The Expanse" will join "The Magicians" and "12 Monkeys" as part of the batch of shows that got their start in 2015. The characters, intriguing plot, great writing and excellent special effects play their part in ensuring that the series would get the nod for a new season. The fact that the series still have several more books to provide more source material for adaptation to the small screen is another factor, according to Den of Geek.
