According to the official synopsis of the BBC Two crime thriller, the third and final season of "The Fall," which stars Gillian Anderson ("The X-Files") and Jamie Dornan ("Fifty Shades of Grey"), will resolve the various cliffhangers at the end of Season 2. "The Fall" follows the story of Superintendent Stella Gibson (Anderson) as she hunts down Paul Spector (Dornan), a serial killer.
Show creator Allan Cubitt announced the return of "The Fall" for its final five-episode season, saying, "I've been on a very exciting journey over the last five years with Stella Gibson and Paul Spector… and I'm thrilled to have recently started filming the third installment of their macabre, obsessive dance of death."
"Gillian and Jamie have lived and breathed those characters during that time and I've been incredibly well-served as both writer and director by their stellar performances," he added. Deadline reports that shooting for the third season has just started in Belfast.
Also returning for its final season are the regular cast members of "The Fall," including Colin Morgan, Valene Kane, John Lynch, Aisling Franciosi, Bronagh Waugh, and Stuart Graham.
The final season of "The Fall" airs later this year.
