'The Flash' News: Episode 5 'Plastique' Review, Details on 'The Flash/ Arrow' Crossover Revealed

The fifth episode of "The Flash" sees a metahuman who wants to get rid of her powers and turns to Barry and the S.T.A.R. Labs team for a cure.

The episode, titled "Plastique" features an ex-Army sergeant who can blow up anything she touches. Her power came from shrapnel from a bomb that got inside her during her time in Iraq, which was activated during the explosion from S.T.A.R. Labs. General Clancy Brown was running all sorts of horrifying and invasive tests on her to figure out where her powers come from, but she was able to escape. Right after that, she begins to look for a cure for herself and plot revenge against the General.

Barry and the team are happy to encounter a metahuman who does not want to use her powers for selfish reasons, but she gets encouragement from Wells to kill General Clancy. Plastique goes to him and pretends to surrender, but as she was about to kill him, The Flash arrives and stops her from doing so. This gives the General time to shoot her behind Barry's back.

As Plastique's body is essentially a big bomb, The Flash figures out a way to get the body far enough from Central City before it explodes. He runs over water, leaves the body on the other side, then races back as it explodes, creating a huge tidal wave that he outruns.

Meanwhile, details from the much anticipated "The Flash/ Arrow" crossover has been released, and here is the synopsis for the special episode which will air on Dec. 2:

"Barry is thrilled when Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle come to Central City to investigate a case involving a deadly boomerang. Excited about teaming up with his friend, Barry asks Oliver if he'd like to help him stop Ray Bivolo, the meta-human Barry is currently tracking," the summary reads. "Bivolo causes people to lose control of their emotions and has been using that skill to rob banks. Unfortunately, the superhero partnership doesn't go as smoothly as Barry expected. When Oliver tells Barry he still has a lot to learn, Barry sets out to prove him wrong by attempting to stop Bivolo alone. However, when Bivolo infects Barry and sets him on a rage rampage, everyone is in danger, and the only one who can stop him is the Arrow."

"The Flash" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
