'The Flash' Season 2 – New Speedster and Villain Join the Cast
"The Flash" Season 2 is set to take a leap of six months and Firestorm villain Tokamak and speedster Jesse Quick will make their entry.
Demore Barnes has been cast as a villain in the second season of "The Flash". He will play the role of Henry Hewitt a.k.a. Tokamak as reported by ComicBook.com. According to The CW, Tokamak is "a charming, but cocky scientist who was affected by the same Particle Accelerator explosion that created the Flash. When Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) recruits him to join the team at S.T.A.R. Labs, Hewitt jumps at the opportunity to fulfill his destiny as a powerful meta-human."
The role of DC Comics' speedster Jesse Quick has gone to Violett Beane, a relative newcomer. Jesse will be a "brilliant but quirky college student" who finds herself in the path of crossfire between Flash and Zoom, the big bad villain who has yet to be cast. She is herself an offspring of two superheroes, possesses super-strength like her mother, has a connection to the Speed Force and is able to move at roughly half-light speed.
It seems the Flash will have a lot of characters coming at him with various speeds. Executive producer Gabrielle Stanton tells TVLine, "We didn't want Barry to get lonely so we thought we'd bring in some more speedsters. It's always Barry's journey. The Flash is always about Barry, but these people who come in will show us different ways that The Flash can be."
It now remains who will play the role of Zoom, Flash's nemesis in Season 2. Stanton says, "Zoom is just scary as all hell." Although he may bear a close resemblance to Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash, Stanton promises, "I guarantee no one will confuse him for one second with what we did last year. It's actually much more different than people would think."
It is a full house in "The Flash" Season 2 and the dynamics between the speedsters and villains will be interesting to watch.
"The Flash" Season 2 airs on The CW on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 8/7c.
