'The Flash' Series News: Katie Cassidy's Black Canary to Guest on the Scarlet Speedster's Series

After the highly celebrated crossover of Grant Gustin's the Flash character on CBS's "Supergirl," DC fans will witness more crossovers from different DC superhero series to another. According to the latest report, Katie Cassidy's Laurel Lance character in the hit CW series "Arrow" will cross to CBS's "The Flash" for its May 17 episode.

Cassidy's Laurel Lance character in "Arrow" started as an aspiring lawyer who eventually became Star City's assistant district attorney before finally evolving into a full-fledged superhero, Black Canary.

While it is true that Cassidy's Laurel Lance character has already met some characters from "The Flash" in one of its past episodes, specifically Carlos Valdes' Cisco and Jesse L. Martin's Joe West characters, she is yet to meet Grant Gustin's Barry Allen/ The Flash character.

However, Cassidy will not be playing Black Canary when she guest stars in "The Flash." Rather, she will play Black Siren, the version of Black Canary in Earth 2. In the comic book version of Black Canary, the female superhero is known as Black Siren, specifically during its Golden Age incarnation. Back then, she was the alter ego of Dinah Drake.

As of this writing, it is not known how Black Siren will influence the events in "The Flash," whether she's going to be an ally of the Scarlet Speedster or an enemy that he'll need to battle with.

In the "Justice League Unlimited" animated series that aired on the Cartoon Network from 2004-2006, Black Canary is a member of the Justice League and plays the love interest of Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow. Apart from her excellent martial arts skills, Black Canary also is also equipped with sonic scream power which is enough to shatter objects and clip her enemies' abilities.

Meanwhile, apart from her guest appearance in "The Flash," Cassidy is also slated to lend her voice to her "Arrow" character in the second season of the animated web series, "Vixen." The upcoming season will explain how Laurel and Vixen's paths crossed.
