'The Following' Season 2 Spoilers: Sam Underwood Says Twins Are 'Actively Dangerous'
"The Following" season two includes two brand new villains for Ryan Hardy and the FBI to take on- twins Mark and Luke.
Surprisingly, the twin characters are both played by just one actor- Sam Underwood. In opening up about Mark and Luke's brotherhood, Underwood shed light on possible spoilers for "The Following" fans.
"On the surface, [Luke is the leader] yes," the actor told TVGuide.com. "But Mark also has a huge amount of power over Luke. You see that in the first episode when Luke is about to go crazy on Carlos. Just before he's about to kill him, Mark kind of reins him in … He has the ability to be able to do that with Luke because of their friendship. Luke is the front-man of the band. He's the Paul McCartney. But Mark is the Ringo Starr. He's there keeping it all together, even though he's not at the very front."
Furthermore, Underwood said the diabolical twins are amped up more than ever in Monday's episode, entitled "Fly Away."
"Purely based on the fact that Luke is the more impulsive one, doesn't always think before he acts, and is kind of a bit more of a rebel without a cause- or a rebel with a cause- I would say Luke's the more actively dangerous one," the actor noted. "In a very broad sense, Luke loves to be seen, heard, and celebrated for what he's done. He loves the spotlight, whereas Mark is a lot more reserved and thinks before he acts."
Underwood went on to promise "The Following" fans that more information about Luke and Mark's history will come to light as the season continues, including how they came to know their "mother" Lily Gray.
"Mark, Luke and Lily have such a strong unconditional love, and absolutely that adds stakes for them," Underwood explained. "Any relationship that's established in this show is in peril of being destroyed. I think the safest way to be on 'The Following' is to be a complete loner."
Meanwhile, the synopsis of tonight's episode of "The Following" on TVGuide.com reads: "Ryan and Max contact the FBI for backup, leading to a standoff. Elsewhere, Joe finds himself in unchartered territory in his new relationship, and Luke ends up in a difficult situation."
The drama airs on Fox Mondays at 9 p.m. EST.
