'The Fosters' Season 5 Spoilers: Callie and AJ Disagree on Ximena Situation

Callie (Maia Mitchell) and AJ's (Tom Williamson) problem involving an undocumented college student will continue in the second half of the current season of "The Fosters."

Spoilers for the new installment reveal that the Ximena (Lisseth Chavez) situation is far from over. Executive producer Bradley Bredeweg said that it is going to take a while before both Callie and AJ would get to leave the church in order to protect the woman.

Ximena was being tracked by the ICE. Callie wanted to help her, roping AJ in the process. According to the EP, Ximena will be stuck inside the church far longer than what everyone expected. Bredeweg also said that they plan to tackle the issue of immigration rights as extensively as possible.

"When Trump came into office, we knew that we would be battling immigration rights from the get-go, so for us, with the show set in a border town, San Diego, it was only natural to explore what is really happening with the mass amounts of people being picked up at schools and in our courtrooms and from their homes," Bredeweg explained.

He added, "It's having such a huge impact across the country, but especially in border towns. We couldn't deny it. We had to face it. We're a show that tackles these kinds of issues, and it just felt like the right thing to do."

Speculations are rife that Callie and AJ will soon have a disagreement about Ximena's problem. It will not take long for AJ gets tired of his ex-girlfriend playing the hero all the time. Of course, it will not help that he is disappointed that Callie's relationship with Aaron (Elliot Fletcher) seems to be doing well.

Meanwhile, season 5B will also focus on Jude's (Hayden Byerly) storyline. It has been teased that his biological father, Donald (Jamie McShane), will pay him a visit. Jude's life as an influencer will take center stage.

"The Fosters" season 5B is expected to air next year.
