'The Fosters' Season 5 Spoilers: Can Stef Save Ximena?
It seems like Stef (Teri Polo) will have to face more challenges in saving Ximena (Lisseth Chavez) when "The Fosters" season 5 midseason premiere.
At the end of the first half of the fifth season, Ximena was last seen with Stef's adopted daughter Callie (Maia Mitchell) and her boyfriend AJ (Tom Williamson) hiding at a church to keep the former from being detained and deported. Since the three cannot stay in the church permanently, Stef must look for a solution to help them get out without the danger of having Ximena arrested.
But based on the sneak peek that was posted on TV Guide, Stef learned from the ICE agents who are working on Ximena's case that her DACA status is actually expired. She needs that status to let her stay in the US legally, but since her documents for staying in the country are no longer valid, it will be harder for Stef to fight for the teener's freedom and bring her back to her parents safe and sound.
While Stef continues to find ways to help her children deal with their problems in "The Fosters" season 5B, the actress who portrays the role of Callie in the series revealed that the upcoming season will still prove that her character and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) will continue to surpass all their trials.
"They're becoming empowered," Mitchell stated in an interview with TVLine. "Mariana becomes like the most empowered girl in the way she manages her relationships. It's very progressive, and I love her for it. You're going to see more of her and a lot of handsome young men."
Other dramas are expected to arise in the upcoming episode of "The Fosters" season 5, including the on-again, off-again relationship of Jesus (Noah Centineo) and Emma (Amanda Leighton).
The second half of "The Fosters" season 5 will begin on Freeform starting on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 8 p.m. EDT.
