The Freedom Tower Elevators Show the Evolution of Manhattan From 1500 to Today
Now that One World Trade Center will be opening to the public in late May this year, they have shown some of the new additions. When it opens, this is what the visitors will see on the ride up, and it amazing!
The elevators, which travel over 20 mph, are equipped with 75-inch HD monitors. The trip to the 102nd floor includes an illusion of riding in a glass elevator, offering sweeping panoramas of Manhattan. It shows a mind-blowing historic time-lapse of the island's skyline from 1500 to present day. It starts in a marsh, reminding viewers that this area was once underwater. Then you start to see grass and trees, and then familiar landmarks, such as St. Paul's Cathedral, Brooklyn Bridge, and Empire State Building rise up in front of your eyes. At 1,268 feet above the ground, the Freedom Tower observatory will be the third highest building in the U.S.
Wow! This is an amazing video, which is an experience of a lifetime and at the same time a little frightening to be so high.
