'The Good Wife' Season 5 Spoilers and Carting News: Matthew Goode Promoted to Series Regular

"The Good Wife" fans are still reeling over Will Garner's death, and consequently, actor Josh Charles' departure, but viewers can rest assured one cast member is staying put.

According to reports this week, Matthew Goode is being promoted from the series' guest star to a regular actor for the rest of season five. The actor portrays new prosecutor in the State Attorney's Office Finn Polmar on "The Good Wife." The character was in the shocking scene that saw Will's client (portrayed by Hunter Parrish) gun him down in the courtroom. In fact, it was Finn who tried to resuscitate Will, but failed.

According to executive producer and co-creator Robert King, Finn will be at the center of a "political crossfire" in relation to the courtroom shooting as the State Attorney's office searches for someone to blame, reported TVLine.
