Season 7 of "The Good Wife" is expected to receive a new addition to the cast, as announced by CBS.

It was reported that Vanessa Williams will be taking on a role in the well-loved series. She will take on the character named Courtney Boalt, who is a successful business woman. She is expected to assist Peter Florrick, played by Chris Noth, in his upcoming campaign for president. It was also hinted that she will have a mutual attraction with Alan Cumming's character Eli Gold.

Creators of the series, Robert and Michelle King, explained how the upcoming season will present the new character. They said, "There are very few names you can put side-by-side that make you laugh. Alan Cumming and Vanessa Williams are at the top of that list. We couldn't be more excited."

The trailer of the upcoming season showed Alicia, played by Julianna Margulies, in a new perspective now that she had gained her independence. The premiere episode is titled "Bond," and the synopsis reads, "Alicia attempts to revive her struggling law career by representing arrestees seeking release on bail in bond court, where she meets attorney Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo), who competes for her clients. Also, Peter brings in national strategist Ruth Eastman (Margo Martindale) to help with his presidential campaign, and creates an interesting dynamic with Eli in the process."

"The Good Wife" is expected to return to CBS on Oct. 4.
