'The Good Wife' Series Finale News: Last Nine Episodes To Feature Lots Of Wrapping Up

While the Super Bowl 50 had millions of Americans glued to their TV screens and provided them thrills last Feb. 7, it was sort of a sad moment for the fans of "The Good Wife" series as CBS confirmed that the show will finally sing its swan song at the end of its current season. The last nine remaining episodes of the show will zero in on the wrapping up of the many aspects of Alicia's life.

According to TV Guide, "The Good Wife" creators Robert and Michelle King told the press on Monday, Feb. 8, that the show just couldn't go beyond seven seasons as the story of Julianna Margulies' Alicia Florrick can only last for seven years.

"We knew we could control our fate, but we were very aware that we did not control the fate of the series… that was for the studio and network to decide. So we felt very fortunate and flattered that we're being allowed to end the show with the writers and producers the way we want it to end," the female King reportedly said.

Before the show finally takes a bow on its series finale episode on May 8, TV Guide has reported that the nine remaining episodes of the show will feature a wrapping up. The Kings have said that the show's last episodes will focus on shedding light on many aspects of Alicia's life, such as her marriage to Chris Noth's Peter, her ability to deal with the situation after Makenzie Vega's Grace leaves, her relationship with Alan Cumming's Eli Gold, and what will happen as she comes back to Lockhart, Agos & Lee.

However, Robert King said that viewers of the show must not expect the issues in Alicia's life to be resolved in a single episode as the succeeding episodes are anchored on the previous ones.

In May last year, in her interview with E!, CBS president for entertainment Nina Tassler debunked the speculations that "The Good Wife" season seven would be the show's last. In that interview, she referred to the King couple as "inspired" and "visionaries."

"As long as they want to continue producing and writing, we love having that show on our air and are very proud of it," she said.

Meanwhile, when TV Guide asked the Kings if they are open to the idea of a spin-off for "The Good Wife," the female King said:

"Sure, maybe. We're not saying no to anything at this point."
