'The Grinder' Cast News, Update: 'Seinfeld' Star Joins Fox Comedy Drama
Fox's upcoming legal comedy TV series "The Grinder" is stacking up its cast members' list with this legendary actor.
The recent casting report from TVLine said that the forthcoming drama is slated to feature the acts of Jason Alexander. The actor is best remembered for his starring role in the 90s sitcom, "Seinfeld."
As further divulged by media outlet, the 55-year-old comedian will play Cliff Beamis, "the writer/creator" of the show within the series which Rob Lowe's character, Dean Sanderson, starred for eight seasons as the popular TV lawyer named Mitch Grinder.
The first to break the news is Lowe himself who, on Tuesday, went over to his social media to tweet the following statement:
"TV legend Jason Alexander will play the writer/creator of 'The Grinder,' the egomaniac and ersatz tough-guy Cliff Beamis. Welcome aboard!"
Aside from the NBC small screen classic, the New Jersey-born also appeared in ABC's "Bob Patterson" and CBS' "Listen Up!"
For those who missed it, "The Grinder" follows the plights of Lowe's alter-ego, Sanderson, who was known as the aforementioned TV actor.
The series will find Sanderson making his journey back home when his long-running scripted program got cancelled by the network. It was revealed that his own family are actually real-life lawyers running an actual firm. Having played the profession, albeit scripted, this gives Sanderson the confidence to see himself as more than capable to take on the real-life job as well as become a great addition to his family's business.
Will his on-screen experience be of any use on the field? Will he live up to the expectations of his family, especially with his brother, Stewart (Fred Savage), who is not particularly pleased with him coming around.
Slated to premiere next week, September 29, on Fox, "The Grinder" features the acts of Savage, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, William Devane, and Natalie Morales as members of the Sanderson clan.
Stay tuned for more updates.
