The Holidays Were 'A Roller-Coaster' For Country Singer Joey Feek, Husband Rory Reveals
Terminally ill country singer and songwriter Joey Feek, who is currently in hospice care, had some ups and downs over the holiday season, her husband Rory Feek disclosed in a recent blog post. Rory, also a country singer-songwriter, is the other half of the country/bluegrass duo Joey + Rory.
"The holidays have been a roller-coaster for my bride," Feek wrote. "She's had some good days, some bad days – some wonderful moments, and some deep pain that the morphine just couldn't seem to touch," he revealed.
"Though she managed a smile most of the time, Joey's heart was heavy and she was feeling some things she hadn't before," Rory said, adding: "A sadness. A fear of the unknown. And even some anger – not at God, just at her situation I suppose."

Rory also revealed that it was not as easy for Joey to get excited over the new year and what it holds as it was for her during the previous holiday season.
Nevertheless, Rory said that Joey remains in good spirits, saying "… She says she's seen the light, and she's over that now…" In fact, in his most recent blog post, Rory goes on to share that his wife had told him, she had been having "serious talks" with Jesus, saying if it was her time, she was "ready to come home."
The 49-year-old country star went on to express his gratitude towards Bill Gaither, the Christian contemporary artist, and his wife Gloria, who are neighbors of the Feeks. He praised Gaither's efforts at brightening Joey's days and thanked the Gaithers for their support. According to Feek, the artist visits his wife practically every day and stays at her bedside, telling her jokes and tales from long ago. Just before Christmas, Gaither built a huge bonfire for Joey, lighting it where she could see it from her bedroom window.
Fans of Joey + Rory have been keeping tabs on the Feeks since May 2014, when Joey received her cervical cancer diagnosis, only three months after she gave birth to Indiana, the couple's daughter. In October 2015, the Feeks announced that they had stopped Joey's treatments after they proved ineffective.
