Hunger Games 3: Mockingjay Part 1 Release Date: Character Posters Revealed
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" is possibly the darkest in the "Hunger Games" series. Recently, the first character posters for the upcoming film were revealed, and things are looking bleak for those who have chosen to cross over to District 13 to join the rebellion.
It can be recalled that in the end of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," everything in the world of Panem turns chaotic as the people of the various districts rise up to revolt against the upper class. It is a somber time for the fictional dystopian society, as the costumes of the characters depicted in the posters reflect the grim atmosphere of the times.
One of the posters is of Plutarch Heavensbee, played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. Clad in a grey long-sleeved shirt, pants, and shoes, Heavensbee looks straight at the camera, as if in defiance of the oppressive nature of the authority.
Another poster shows Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, who looks as if he's freezing in District 13. He is clad in a knit cap, a charcoal grey jacket, and pants.
There's also one of Jeffrey Wright as Beetee Latier, who is now confined in a wheelchair after sustaining serious injuries in the last Hunger Games. His disability does not stop him from playing a major part in the rebellion.
Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) continues to look his handsome self, and though his clothes are of the same grey as the others, he manages to look somewhat dapper in them.
Gone are the days of Effie Trinket's (Elizabeth Banks) colorful costumes. In the poster, she's looking subdued and quite miserable in a grey tunic.
The last poster features a new character, President Coin (Julianne Moore). Will she be as ruthless as President Snow?
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" will be in theaters on Nov. 21.
