'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Trailer Released (VIDEO)

Fans of "The Hunger Games" series were treated to a teaser-trailer during last night's MTV Movie Awards. "Catching Fire" is the second film to be released in the trilogy and is expected to do as well, if not better, than the original "Hunger Games" film.

"Catching Fire" picks up with Katniss and Peeta dealing with newfound fame after surviving the annual Hunger Games together. Yet the plot deepens as the government becomes concerned with their popularity and adamant refusal to play by President Snow's rules. As a result, they are forced to participate in another, more cutthroat version of the Hunger Games, the Quarter Quell.

"The Hunger Games" was a hit trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that became a film success as well. The first movie has earned over $407 million as of August 2012, according to IMDB, and "Catching Fire" is expected to do as well, if not better, given the series' intense popularity and growing viewership.

However, there is controversy surrounding the violence portrayed in the films, as well as the fact that children are forced to fight one another to the death. The film's PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) upset some who felt the violence was portrayed as an accurate part of the book and did not require such a rating.

Some have compared the series to Christianity and used the popularity of the books to encourage dialogue with young people. The Rev. Andy Langford and his daughter, the Rev. Ann Duncan wrote "The Gospel According to 'The Hunger Games' Trilogy" for a Bible study.

"Many of our youth and young adults have been reading the books," Langford told The Christian Post. ""Almost all the youth and young adults had read all three books. Some grandmothers had read them; the parents on the whole seemed oblivious. Our youth group would attend the movie together and then discuss it afterwards."

"Sacrificial love … is the most obvious theme throughout all three books," Langford explained. "Many of the characters have Biblical parallels, which seem so obvious to us but most people missed."

"Catching Fire" will be released on Nov. 22, 2013.

"The Gospel According to 'The Hunger Games' Trilogy" is available for Kindle from Amazon.com.
