'The Incredibles 2' News and Rumors: Brad Bird Explains Delay to Movie; Will it Feature Grown-Up Characters?

With about three years more to go before the release of the next "Incredibles" film, fans are starting to question if production is really planning to bring the sequel to the big screens or if it has even started working on the script.

Director Brad Bird has something to say that might ease the anticipation of fans. In an interview with Coming Soon, he said he actually had a lot of ideas for what fans should see in the much-awaited sequel but those ideas "just didn't fit in."

"I wanted to come up with sort of an over-arching idea that connected to the first film that went somewhere different. That's the one that took a little more time," he said.

The "Tomorrowland" director also clarified that he worked on making a clear connection to the first movie since there were still a whole bunch of ideas he had left from "The Incredibles."

He further explained that unlike other directors who want to get a sequel right away after the first movie proves to be a success, he is the type who looks into even the smallest details to make sure everything he comes up with would lead to the anticipated second installment.

Meanwhile, fans and outlets continue to raise rumors and speculations about the upcoming movie since there are little or no details at all that Bird and his team are giving away.

According to The Australia Network, rumors around the Internet suggest that the Parr family will be portraying life in the future, which means Dash, Violet, and Jack-Jack will be grown-ups.

The speculation may be possible since it would provide a good explanation as to why Jack-Jack decided to turn away from his family. In addition, it would open doors for a twist that would depict Jack-Jack as the new villain.

While fans initially thought that Jack-Jack didn't have any superpowers, the finale revealed that he actually had something special. This further raised speculations that he may use his god-like strength to turn the tables on the Parr clan and prove that he also has something to show off.

"The Incredibles 2" is scheduled for release on June 21, 2019.
