'The Killing' Season 4 Axed, Show Canceled by AMC for the Second Time
Those anticipating season 4 of 'The Killing' will be disappointed to learn that AMC has made the decision to cancel the series.
"We have made the difficult decision not to move forward with a fourth season of 'The Killing,' said AMC in a statement this week. "We want to thank our great partners at Fox Television Studios, creator Veena Sud, an extraordinary cast and the dedicated fans who watched."
This is not the first time the show has gotten the axe as the network took it off the air after the second season, but changed its mind shortly after and allowed for a third.
The final season featured the two original leads, Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman who played a poorly matched homicide team. The two of them returned to investigate a new mystery that focused on a series of murders and their connection to a band of wayward teens living by their wits on the streets of Seattle.
'The Killing' was plagued by the end of the first season that was well received by critics, but bashed by fans due to the fact that the writers failed to conclude the main story arc introduced that year until the following season. Ratings quickly fell and AMC questioned the show's ability to have lasting appeal.
AMC did not announce the reason for this latest cancelation of the show.
Fox Television Studios commented on the decision saying that it was "extremely proud of all three seasons of 'The Killing.' While we would have loved to produce a fourth season for AMC, FTVS is immensely grateful to everyone involved with this moving series."
"Most of all, FTVS thanks the terrific fans of 'The Killing,' who communicated their appreciation for the show through its run," concluded Fox.
