'The Last of Us 2' Release Date & Update: Naughty Dog Uses 'Deception' Strategy to Keep Fans Guessing

"The Last of Us" fans are now wondering if a sequel to the action-adventure survival horror game will happen or not. And up to now, there's just no telling what's really going on inside the corners of developer Naughty Dog. But one thing is noted—it seems like they are using deception as a selling strategy.

According to Youth Health, Neil Druckmann, creative director of the game and the upcoming "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," talked about the initial trailers for "The Last of Us" during a recent interview. He revealed that the trailers were purposefully made with an ending that is misleading to players because it helped in the entire "experience" of the game.

"I believe that what the player sees before they play sets up a certain expectation, and that's going to affect how they approach the game and the kind of enjoyment they're going to get," he said. He explained that the experience begins the moment one watches the first trailer and the first demo. He also disclosed that they intended to make it in such a way that players would keep on guessing.

Going back to the sequel, latest reports claim that the part two is now confirmed based on the recent statement of voice actor Nolan North. He hinted that Naughty Dog may be working on a potential release date. The speculation even grew stronger when more hints about the release date of the game being announced was revealed by accident during a live stream interview with writer Josh Scherr, community strategist Eric Monacelli, and lead animator Eric Baldwin.

Plot speculations have also surfaced and according to a report by KpopStarz, "The Last of Us 2" may have the main character Joel killed off of the game. This would leave Ellie to go on an adventure by herself. The source stated that many do not want Joel to return and they have come up with an emotional scene where Joel dies in Ellie's arms because he was trying to save her from the Infected.

There's still no official announcement about the part two but fans believe that maybe the game will happen in the next few years as Naughty Dog is still currently concentrating on the release of "Uncharted 4," which is scheduled to arrive in March 18, 2016.
