'The Last Ship' Season 5 Spoilers: Chandler's Squad Takes on a Latino Mobster
Chandler (Eric Dane) and the Navy are set to take on a Latin American mobster with huge dreams of taking over the world in the next season of "The Last Ship."
The trailer released for the new installment shows the gradual return of peace for the Americans after the successful elimination of the Red Rust. In the clip, other ships are joining the USS Nathan James in patrolling the seas. Everyone is hopeful that, finally, all threats have been removed, and it is time for mankind to bounce back. The Navy is starting to feel at ease that all is well until an unexpected attack shocks them all.
A Latino leader is revealed to be targeting the Americans, with his first attack destroying a satellite during an important celebration. Next, he will send fighter jets to drop off bombs and scare off the survivors. Chandler and Slattery (Adam Baldwin) both cannot believe their eyes when explosions after explosions rock their turf. Later on, Sasha (Bridget Regan) is shown attending a soiree with the Latin American leader.
It looks like the man has been building his own army to take over the world. His people are fanatics who believe that it is time for Latin America to take its place as a powerful force on Earth. The leader tells Sasha the unfairness of it all, that when the Latinos organize something, the Americans are quick to say that they are leading a revolution. Although she is smiling at the man, Sasha knows that they have a huge problem in their hands.
Meanwhile, spoilers indicate that Vellek (Peter Weller) may not have died. In the last finale, he was shown jumping off the bridge of his ship in an apparent suicide. The mad scientist tried to burn all of his life's work. Fortunately, Chandler's crew managed to save enough materials to stop another holocaust from happening. Since Vellek's body was not shown, rumors are rife that he is alive somewhere, planning his revenge.
"The Last Ship" season 5 is expected to air next year on TNT.
