'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' News: Expansion Pass Announced
Nintendo has announced an expansion pass for its highly anticipated action-adventure video game, "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."
Priced at $19.99, the expansion pass contains the first pair of downloadable content (DLC) packs for the game. Both are set for release this year and Nintendo provided some details about these offerings.
The first "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" DLC will be released this summer. It adds a new hard mode, a new Cave of Trials challenge and a new feature for the in-game map that the developer did not elaborate on.
The second DLC included in the expansion pass will be released holiday this year. It comes with a new dungeon, a new "original story" and additional challenges.
Those who purchase the expansion pass will, when "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" releases, get to unlock some rewards in the three extra treasure chests added in the Great Plateau area.
Two of these will endow players with "useful items" that they can use to help Link complete his missions. The third one is a shirt with the Nintendo logo on it so that the hero can rock the brand as he explores the world.
Nintendo notes that the "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" expansion pack will be released for both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U versions of the game and that they are completely identical.
Another thing to keep in mind is that players who do not purchase the expansion pass will have no other means to experience the DLCs included in it.
This is because the "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" content packs will not be available to purchase separately, as the developer noted in its press release picked up by Kotaku.
"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be released on March 3 along with the Nintendo Switch.
