'The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess' Gets Its Own Manga Series
Fans of the "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" have something new to ogle at. The action-adventure title has been adapted as a manga series that will release starting next week.
After eight years, artist duo Akira Himekawa are back with a brand-new manga series based on Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess." The artists will both write and illustrate the new series, which will be serialized exclusively by publisher Shogakukan. The new manga series will be available to Japanese readers through its MangaOne app.
"The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" manga series will be available starting Monday, Feb. 8, in Japan. There's currently no information how long the series will last nor any mention of an English language release.
Although "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" was released about a decade ago, the timing of "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" manga adaptation couldn't have been better. Nintendo is poised to launch the title's remastered version "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD" to the Wii U on March 4 in Japan and North America.
"The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" is not the first "Zelda" game that Akira Himekawa have adapted into a manga series. They've previously worked on the franchise's "Ocarina of Time," "Majora's Mask," "A Link to the Past," "Oracle of Season," "Oracle of Ages," "Four Swords," "The Minish Cap," and "Phantom Hourglass." All of these were also published in North America by Viz Media. In addition, the duo also drew the prologue to "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword" game that was released in 2011.
Other than "The Legend of Zelda," Akira Himekawa have also worked on manga adaptations for "Legend of Crystania," "Astro Boy - Tetsuwan Atom," "Nazca," and "Brave Story." They were also tasked to do a manga series of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" a few years back.
