"The Man in the High Castle" is set to return this December with the promise of an intriguing, expansive and unpredictable plot. American actor Tzi Ma is the latest addition to the growing cast of the hit Amazon series' Season 2.
The New Recruit
Joel de la Fuente, who plays the ruthless Chief Inspector Kido, revealed on Twitter that Ma has joined the sophomore season of the dystopian alternative history drama. Ma's role in the series is still unknown, but Fuente hinted on his tweet that the 54-year-old Hong Kong-born actor is a wonderful addition to the Japanese Empire.
Ma is popular for portraying as Consul Han in "Rush Hour" and "Rush Hour 3." He also appeared in various American television series including "Grey's Anatomy," "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," "Once Upon A Time" and "Hawaii Five-0."
On the other hand, Ma expressed his happiness for landing a role in the series. On his Instagram account, he posted a photo of him with fellow actors De la Fuente and Lee Shorten, hanging out on the set of the Emmy-nominated series.
Pilot Episode
Shorten, who portrays Inspector Kido's right hand man Sergeant Yoshida, tweeted that he already saw the first episode of the second season and he cannot wait for the fans to see it. He lauded the episode's beautiful shots.
In another tweet, Shorten also teased fans about a scene he shot recently. "Look, you know I hate being a tease but... We just shot one hell of a cool sequence," the actor told his Twitter followers.
Plot Details & Spoilers
Executive producer Isa Hackett told Digital Trends that the upcoming season will unveil the identity of the elusive and mysterious "man in the high castle." The Christian Post reported in July that American actor Tate Donovan joined the alt-history drama series to play the titular character.
The series is based on the novel of acclaimed writer Philip K. Dick. Hackett revealed that the Amazon show will not follow the book verbatim. She said that they skipped some plots during the first season and incorporated them to the second installment.
The producer also confirmed that the storyline of the sophomore season will include Juliana Crain (Alexa Davalos) dealing with the decimation of the resistance. It will also see Joe Blake (Luke Kleintank) moving to Berlin and Frank Frink (Rupert Evans) turning more radicalized after watching the mysterious movies in first season.
The upcoming sophomore season of "High Castle" will premiere on Prime Video on Dec. 16 this year. It will feature 10 episodes.
