'The Mick' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Fox Orders Seven More Episodes; Mickey Faces the Consequences of Lying

Fox has picked up "The Mick" for a full second season. According to Deadline, the network has ordered seven more episodes to be added to season 2 of the comedy series, bringing its total episode count to 20. The first season consisted of 17 episodes.

The upcoming episode of "The Mick" season 2 will see Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) taking the kids to their great-grandmother Rita Pemberton's (guest star Judith Roberts) 100th birthday party.

The synopsis of the next episode, titled "The Matriarch," states that the wealthy Rita will mistake Mickey for an old friend of hers. Of course, being Mickey, she will try to milk the situation the best she can. The kids' grandmother Tippy (guest star Concetta Tomei) will also be at the celebration, and she will have an unexpected surprise for the whole family.

A teaser trailer for the new episode has also been released. It shows Mickey enjoying the life of the rich and fabulous. She is seen riding around in fancy cars after shopping and enjoying champagne at the mansion. "This is the life I signed up for when I agreed to babysit you turds," she tells the kids.

However, Mickey's world is turned upside down when she discovers that the friend Rita mistook her for is actually more than just a friend. Rita makes a move on Mickey, and the next thing she knows, the old lady is naked and climbing on top of her in bed.

The previous episode, titled "The Invention," saw Mickey and Alba (Carla Jimenez) taking over Ben's (Jack Stanton) project. As showrunners Dave and John Chernin revealed to Den of Geek, it was something they had wanted to explore.

"This was just a fun one to film in general. It's always great when Kaitlin [Olson] and Carla [Jiminez] are together," Dave said.

"We also wanted to work in a bit of commentary regarding how parents can take over their kids' schoolwork and make it all about themselves," John added. "To touch on that topic on some level seemed like an interesting area for us to be able to explore for once."

"The Mick" season 2 airs Tuesdays, at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
