'The Odd Life of Timothy Green' Released in Time for Holidays
Disney studios released "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" on DVD/Blu-ray Combo Pack last week, and the film is a reminder of what is truly important this holiday season.
The movie focuses on the life of a family desperate to have a child, and just when they least expect it, along comes a boy named Timothy Green. He's not like most children and causes his parents, Cindy and Jim Green- played by Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton- to rethink their entire lives.
"Odd Life" provides a look at the dreams we all have and what happens when they don't turn out exactly how we planned. It's a reminder of what is actually important, especially in time for Christmas, which is family and faith. The film provides a bit of whimsy and fantasy as well, but for the most part, presents the everyday experiences and trials of parenting.
"Lots of movies are about parenting," Jennifer Garner told Disney in an interview for the film's release, "or have parents in them but very rarely do I see one where I'm like, 'Yes, I've done that.' This one really does, and then at the same time, it's not real at all it's really magical, so you can have all of these sweeping emotions watching it but in the end it's a fantasy."
Peter Hedges directed the film and has great experience with films depicting a combination of reality, fantasy and bare emotion. His credits include "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" "About a Boy" and "Dan in Real Life."
The special DVD/Blu-ray Combo Pack features the documentary "Family Roots: Bringing 'The Odd Life of Timothy Green' to the Screen" and a behind-the-scenes look at the movie's popular song "This Gift." Viewers will especially enjoy the all new deleted songs and director's audio commentary.
"The Odd Life of Timothy Green" is available now online and in stores from Disney.
