'The Originals' Season 4: Hayley Sees Elijah as a Distraction?
Romance will have to be on the backburner for Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) in "The Originals" season 4 as they prioritize the security of Hope (Summer Montana).
In an interview with TVLine, Tonkin emphasized that while she missed Elijah during those five years that she was gone, she does not forget the important matter at hand, which is to make sure Hope is out of harm's way.
"As much as Hayley is happy to have [Elijah] back, her priority is still Hope's safety. She can't focus on a romantic relationship that might become too time-consuming," the actress explained of her situation in "The Originals" season 4.

"As her daughter gets older and becomes a little human being, Hayley becomes even more protective. So that's her focus, to protect her kid," she went on to say.
It is high time for the Mikaelsons to be alert in "The Originals" season 4, especially since a new threat has arrived in New Orleans, one that they will find very difficult to keep at bay.
Eva (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) is making sacrificial lambs out of children and she has her eye on Hope. This "The Originals" season 4 villain is not to be taken lightly either so the Mikaelson clan's full focus is needed to fend her off.
"Over the course of the season, the Mikaelsons are going to have to deal with the fact that there's this person," the executive producer Michael Narducci told Entertainment Weekly of "The Originals" season 4 big bad.
"It's not a White Oak stake that can be burnt up or buried or thrown in the ocean — it's a person who they cannot defeat, but who can absolutely defeat them, and that's not going to be something that they're going to be happy about," he went on to say.
With all that said, the Mikaelsons cannot afford to distract themselves because what they are up against actually has what it takes to defeat them.
With Hope's potentials, which has been shown in "The Originals" season 4 already, Eva could make her a weapon against her family, but she is expected to be powerful enough to end her too.
"The Originals" season 4 returns next week, April 4, with episode 4, "Keepers of the House."
