'The Orville' Season 1 Episode 8 Spoilers: Bad News for Claire
The upcoming episode of "The Orville" on FOX will bring some bad news for Dr. Claire Finn (Penny Johnson Jerald). Her crew, however, will come to her rescue as always.
In the episode called "Into The Fold," which airs on Thursday, Nov. 2, Claire gets lost in space with the artificial life form Isaac (Mark Jackson). But how did they get into this predicament in the first place?
Claire was actually set for a family vacation with her children. Lt. John LaMarr (J. Lee) was supposed to shuttle them to the destination but when he became indisposed, Commander Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki) gave her substitute pilot in Isaac.
The doctor did not want Isaac to ferry her and her kids but she's left with no choice. Her misgivings, however, prove to be true because somehow their space shuttle crashes in a moon. Now, it's up to the Orville crew to locate and rescue Isaac, Claire, and her kids.
The episode will also feature returning guest star Norm Macdonald as Yaphit. The character hinted in previous episodes that he's quite fond of Claire and will now worry that she's in danger. Will the relationship between the doctor and the alien glob deepen?
"Well, we will see during the thirteen episodes that you get, we'll see some kind of relationship evolve, whether it's good or whether it's bad," Jerald shared via Screen Rant. "But I have to say, playing opposite Norm is just that voice alone, it gives me chills."
Meanwhile, "The Orville" reached the second half of its first season run with good feedback from viewers following a rough start. FOX has ordered 13 episodes for now but the network has yet to confirm a second season.
Creator and star Seth McFarlane (Capt. Ed Mercer), however, has high hopes for a renewal. He told an audience at the New York Comic Con that there are already story ideas for season 2.
"The Orville" airs Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. EST on FOX.
