'The Path' Season 1 Spoilers, Plot News: First Photos Of Hulu's New Drama
The first images from Hulu's upcoming religious cult drama series "The Path" have just been released and they show Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, Hugh Dancy, and other members of the cast in a variety of scenes from future episodes of the show.
Hulu's original series, which is produced by Universal Television, stars Paul and Monaghan as Eddie and Sarah Lane, a married couple belonging to a controversial religious group called The Meyerist Movement. Eddie is a Meyerism convert dealing with doubts about his faith while his wife Sarah, who was born into a Meyerist family, is a central figure in the group. The series follows the Lane family members as they navigate their individual paths in and around the Movement. Dancy, as Cal Roberts, is the charismatic leader of the cult.
The photos also reveal Hawk Lane (Kyle Allen), Eddie and Sarah's son, with his classmate Ashley Fields (Amy Forsyth), who is not a Meyerist. They also show Alison Kemp (Sarah Jones), a defector of the Movement, Mary Cox (Emma Greenwell), a former addict who was saved by Cal and his followers, and Detective Abe Gaines (Rockmond Dunbar).
The official plot synopsis provided by Hulu reads: "'The Path' follows a family at the center of a controversial cult as they struggle with relationships, faith and power. Each episode takes an in-depth look at the gravitational pull of belief and what it means to choose between the life we live and the life we want."
The series is apparently so suspenseful that even some of its cast members aren't immune to its twisty storytelling. "When I got to the end of the first episode I wanted to know what comes next, which is ridiculous because I know what comes next," Dancy told Entertainment Weekly.
Hulu ordered 10 episodes of the forthcoming series in March 2015. It was originally called "The Way" before the title was changed to "The Path" for legal reasons.
The premiere episode of "The Path" will be made available on March 30, 2016 on Hulu.
