The race to challenge Trump: Biden strong; Harris losing support?
The Endorsement Primary
Political website fivethirtyeight.com is keeping track of the number of endorsements that each of the Democratic primary candidates are receiving.
FiveThirtyEight used a points system scaled 10 to 1, with 10 points awarded for endorsements from former presidents or vice presidents as well as current national party leaders, 8 points for governors, 6 for U.S. Senators, and lower scores for less notable figures.
In data updated on Monday and accessed Wednesday, the site had Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey in the lead with 57 points.
Following Sen. Booker was Senator Kamala Harris of California with 55 points, Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota with 44 points, Sanders with 21 points, Biden with 18 points, and Warren with 17 points.
In March, FiveThirtyEight had Senators Booker and Harris in a tie with 55 points each, being followed by Klobuchar, Sanders, Biden, and Warren.
However, earlier this month, two Democratic National Committee members from New Jersey endorsed Booker, boosting him to first place.
