'The Secret World' Free-To-Play News: Popular MMORPG Gets Major Overhaul and New Title
Funcom's popular shared-world action role-playing game (RPG), "The Secret World" is all set to be relaunched under a new name and in a free-to-play version.
The people behind the previously subscription-optional, "buy-to-play" game set in the present-day world that is under attack from secret occult forces have decided to make their highly acclaimed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) accessible to a wider audience by relaunching it in a free-to-play model. The game, which is expected to be released in the spring will now be called "Secret World Legends."
In a press release posted on the game's official site, Funcom revealed that "Secret World Legends" will come with a newly designed progression system that will complement its completely revamped combat. And to make the game more immersive than its predecessor, the visuals have also undergone significant updates.
Additionally, the game's entire collection of missions and mysteries will now be available for free, offering more than 100 hours of mature narratives and surprising twists and turns. Players who wish to give this revamped version a spin can sign up for its beta version now to have a taste of what it has to offer and how it differs from its older version.
"Secret World Legends" promises to provide old and new fans alike with a brand-new era that offers more captivating journeys and quests that can be enjoyed and accomplished either with friends or on one's own. The game takes the player right into the core of the secret war that humans have been fighting against the supernatural and will bring him or her into the realms of ancient myths and mystical legends.
Moreover, various missions will even take the player to many different places around the globe, to try and unravel the mysteries of the unknown with their extensive collection of highly customizable weapons, gears and preternatural powers.
"'Secret World Legends' features combat that feels more natural, deep systems that are more intuitive, better structuring of the early game for new players, and improved mission flow to strengthen the pace of progression for players," executive producer Scott Junior shared in the official press release.
