'The Simpsons' season 27 plot news: Homer and Marge divorced?

More news about the upcoming season of "The Simpsons" has revealed details regarding the rumors of Homer and Marge's divorce.

There were previous rumors stating that Homer and Marge were going to get a divorce in season 27 of The Simpsons. It was confirmed by executive producer of the series Al Jean that this is not the case. He said, "I never said they were getting divorced. I never used that word. And the next thing I know, it's crazy headlines. I wasn't trying to trick people … Cartoon characters can fall down cliffs or blow each other's heads off, but they cannot get divorced." He explained that the premiere titled "Every Man's Dream" will merely show the couple in a marital strife. The premiere is expected to see Marge becoming fed up with Homer for all his actions.

Al Jean explained that the upcoming marital strife will be different from the ones seen before. However, he did not share much about what exactly to expect. The episode will present a guest voice actor playing the role of Candace. She will be voiced by "Girls" star Lena Dunham. Candace is expected to be Homer's lover interest in the upcoming episode. It was stated that when Homer discovers he has narcolepsy, he meets Candace when getting his prescription. Another guest star for the upcoming season will be Kristen Bell. She is expected to play the role of Lisa's new rich friend, who is the daughter of an internet billionaire. Sofia Vergara will also join the season as Mrs. Berrera, who is Bart's new teacher.

Al Jean explained, "She's the first teacher that Bart's ever had with a tat. She's more forgiving of Bart than Mrs. Krabappel was. She pays special attention to him … We thought it'd be interesting if both Bart and Skinner have a crush on the same woman. She feels Skinner is a wounded soul that she wants to take care of. She is a vet like Skinner, and that's his attraction." The executive producer also hinted that there is a possibility that the character will become a permanent role on the show, given that working with Vergara proved to be a fun experience.
