'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Spoilers: Damon and Enzo Get 'Caught in the Middle' of Battle

"The Vampire Diaries" returns to the CW on Thursday with a brand new episode "Man on Fire."

Many fans are wondering about Enzo's (portrayed by Michael Malarkey) fate on the series, and fortunately, this week's installment is "Enzo-centric," according to reports online. During a flashback, Enzo will learn the truth about Maggie who he described as "the one that got away," according to TV Guide. The flashback will head into the 1960's, and executive producer Caroline Dries offered even more teasers about "Man on Fire."

"We get to see Stefan and Damon for one night, but we [also] dig into Enzo's storyline too," she said to TV Guide. "He becomes the mini 'bad' of the season and we're figuring out his motivation for why he's in town. He's going to make a number of enemies and he won't do himself any favors."

Moreover, Enzo will also be involved in a battle with Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) after he puts them in grave danger. Also caught in the middle during this week's "The Vampire Diaries" is Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Fans of the show will learn just how Damon handles the pressure of being caught as the middleman.

Meanwhile, very few details about "The Vampire Diaries" season finale are available just weeks before its arrival. However, executive producer Julie Plec hinted that the season five closer will follow suit with the emotional finales of seasons past.

"Just ugle-cried my way through the ending of @Chrisgrismer's epic director's cut of the TVD season finale. Hashtag Kleenex," she wrote on Twitter.
