'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 News, Update: Cast Member Elizabeth Blackmore Talks About The Heretics

Fans better be ready for the arrival of the Heretics, the main baddies in the upcoming seventh season of The CW's hit supernatural drama TV series "The Vampire Diaries."

Touted by the report from TVLine as a "swarm of vampire-witches with an unquenchable thirst for trouble," series newcomer Elizabeth Blackmore sat down with the publication to dish out more information on Season 7's big bads.

"They're pretty far from anything the show has seen so far, which is really exciting," says the actress who plays Valerie. "There's some funny adjusting at first — they're waking up 100 years in the future where there are iPhones, computers and all that — but there's also some darkness going on."

Blackmore, however, said that even within the community, there are also a lot of misunderstandings. The actress particularly pointed out to the involvement of Nora and Mary-Louise, which was reported earlier as the show's first same-sex couple, with whom Valerie will often have some bickering.

Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan Salvatore in the vampire drama, told the media outlet earlier that viewers will get a taste of these characters immediately when the show kicks in with its brand new season.

Speaking of Stefan, the character is also expected to continue to have a very complicated relationship with his mother, Lily.

"She's not [Stefan's] enemy, but she's not totally his mom," Wesley explained to TVLine. "She's definitely not on his side, and he doesn't trust her, but he has more empathy for her than Damon [Ian Somerhalder] has."

But for Damon, what Lily did wasn't "cool at all." Having left the brothers for these Heretics, treating them both like "outcasts" and "bastard children," this treatment won't sit well with the younger Salvatore.

Don't miss out on these intense developments when "The Vampire Diaries" premieres its Season 7 this October 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW. Stay tuned for more updates.
