'The View' News: Jedediah Bila Announces Exit, Meghan McCain in Talks to Join Talk Show

Jedediah Bila has officially left "The View."

Bila, 38, announced her departure from the ABC talk show Monday by saying it was her last day on the show. Although she did not give any reason for her abrupt exit, Bila said she is working on other projects.

"This has just been an amazing journey, and I appreciate all of you. I want to thank the viewers, even the ones that write me hate tweets," she told viewers and her co-hosts. "This has been a really great experience, and mostly I just want to speak to the viewers and say we are nothing without you."

Bila's announcement comes just days after Hillary Clinton's interview on the show, in which the former Fox News contributor asked the former presidential candidate tough questions. The episode reportedly made some staff members concerned about how the interview was handled by Bila.

While some believe her exit was connected to the interview, a spokeswoman for the show already clarified that it was not because of Clinton's appearance. "Her departure had nothing to do with the Hillary Clinton interview," she said. "Jedediah asked good questions during that interview, and the producers were pleased with how she handled it."

Entertainment Weekly notes Meghan McCain could step in to fill the void left by Bila. It is believed that "The View" is searching for a replacement who could step in as soon as possible, and ABC has a short list of potential new hosts. A source told the publication that it would not be surprising if McCain was on the short list, considering how she can also be the conservative voice the show needs.

A different insider told CNN that McCain is talks with the producers. Her deal with "The View" is not yet completed but it is reportedly in the final stages.

"The View" airs weekdays at 11 a.m. EDT on ABC.
