'The Voice' Launches 'Most Inspiring Moments' Campaign; Former Contestants Applaud Singing Show's 'Positive' Content
NBC's "The Voice" recently kicked off season 6 and the show's producers have launched a "Most Inspiring Moments" video campaign.
The reality singing show, which first aired in 2011, is often hailed for its positive and uplifting content and viewers can now relive some of their favorite moments via YouTube. A compilation of inspirational moments from the past several seasons has been shared on the social networking site and producer Mark Burnett recently spoke about the success behind "The Voice."
Burnett has produced several hit shows amd films including "The Bible" miniseries and "Son of God."
"It's an uplifting show. People said in the beginning 'you'll never ever pull off a singing show that doesn't have a humiliation factor' - that was totally wrong. America loves The Voice, it's the #1 show and doesn't humiliate anyone. The Voice is a great, family-friendly, uplifting show," Burnett said.
This season's celebrity coaches include Blake Shelton, Usher, Shakira and Adam Levine. Brandon Chase, who appeared under Team Blake in season 5, applauded "The Voice" for its pleasant audition process which he said influenced his decision to audition in the first place.
"None of the shows like 'American Idol' or 'X Factor' were on our radar... we had no interest in doing them but then when "The Voice" came around... I could tell there was something different about the show," Chase told The Christian Post exclusively.
For years the hit show has competed with others like "American Idol" and recently canceled "The X Factor" for ratings. Chase believes "The Voice" is still popular because viewers are drawn to its more "serious" and original content.
"I love the fact that there isn't anybody coming on to audition that isn't a singer. On 'Idol' people come in chicken suits and that kind of thing and what's the point? It's a joke, they know they're not going to go through," Chase explained.
"When I first saw "The Voice" I knew this is serious, it's only talented people who get to audition in front of the judges ... they're all great. It's just a matter of who does the best that day," he added.
At just two days old, doctors determined there was a chance that Chase, who suffered internal bleeding and quit breathing 64 times, could be deaf, blind, mentally impaired, or possibly all three. With the power of prayer, he would later go on to prove them wrong.
Not only did the Texas native not suffer any complications from his childhood, he went on to graduate college at age 17 in addition to pursuing his musical talents.
"I don't believe in mere coincidences or luck, I truly believe the prayers that my Mom and my grandfather prayed over me [when I was sick] ... I believe God definitely came down and touched me and he did it in a way that totally proved his power throughout the course of my life," he said.
"Instead of just saying ok I'm going to heal him and he'll be normal, He came down and healed me and allowed me to excel," he continued. Im exceptional in most of the things I do in my life so I consider myself a walking miracle ... I'm extremely blessed."
"The Voice" has undoubtedly been a platform for Chase, who yesterday dropped his latest single "One" and in the summer will debut his self-titled album.
"It's one of those name recognition kind of things, it's helped me get into a lot of doors ... and obviously its been an incredible platform as far as fan base goes," he said.
Season 4 contestant Sarah Simmons, 24, couldn't believe her luck when all four judges turned around during her breathtaking performance. To date, the former worship leader's audition video has garnered 1.7 million views on YouTube and despite not winning, Simmons says she feels blessed to be able to use her voice for "helping people heal."
"I've had amazing feedback ... especially [from] the fans who write me on facebook and Twitter ... It's been such a blessing [to be] able to help these people anyway I can and hearing their feedback about how much my voice has helped them go through healing processes," Simmons said. "Im so grateful everyday to be used [by God]."
The Alabama native has gone on to perform for private gigs including the wedding of "Real Housewives of Miami" star Joanna Krupa and Romain Zago as well as for the hit TV show "Sons of Anarchy." Simmons is also set to release her debut album in coming months.
"It completely changed my life," Simmons said of the show.
"The Voice" season 6 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
