'The Voice' season 9 latest news and updates: Gwen Stefani is back!
After a season without being behind the red chair, Gwen Stefani will be back on the upcoming season of "The Voice" this fall. The "No Doubt" singer, who just went through a divorce, is excited to be back as a judge and can't wait to coach singers.
Gwen, who has an illustrious career as a musician, said that being part of The Voice is one of the best experiences she has, as reported by Hollywood Outbreak. The singer said that she will remember her time at the show with definite fondness. Gwen's comeback may have been welcomed by the other judges, but that doesn't mean that her return is without any controversy.
Gwen's biggest rival, Rihanna, will become a part of the show and will work as the chief mentor to all the judges. Bossip reported recently that a source told the National Enquirer that a fight is slowly brewing on the set between the female singers.
The issue started last 2011 when Gwen was asked to differentiate herself from Rihanna. The Voice judge reportedly said that she "usually put pants on," which angered RiRi. But even if Gwen was the one who allegedly started the fight, she is actually the one who is still angry with the RnB singer. The source added, "Rihanna's the type to hold a grudge and thought Gwen was way out of line."
Now that the two will be working closely together, it will be more interesting to see how this season's mentorship will go. Gwen is reportedly not happy about it, but will have to suck it up working with her "enemy."
Meanwhile, Pharrell Williams, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine will join Gwen this season to judge the next batch of hopefuls.
The hit singing competition series will be back with its ninth season this Sept. 21 on NBC.
