The Voice's Cee Lo Green Raps 'I Believe God and You Read Blogs' on MTV, Addresses Cultural Climate

The Voice's most charismatic vocal judge Cee Lo Green made an appearance on MTV's RapFix Live this week where he rapped the line "I believe God, and you read blogs."

The rapper, singer and TV personality was on the show to promote his rap group Goodie Mob's latest album, Age Against the Machine. They were asked to rap for the cameras and this lyric ended up coming out during Cee Lo's part.

Goodie Mob, a group that consists of members Big Gipp, Khujo and T-Mo, have been doing a lot of press while promoting their first album since 2005. They stress the fact that their new music will have a message that uplifts hip-hop culture during interviews with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club and MTV.

Cee Lo Green branched out from the group in recent years launching a successful career as a solo artist and being a judge on NBC's singing smash hit "The Voice." He has been quite vocal about his faith on the show and has a strong church background being raised by two Christian ministers in Atlanta, Ga. His singing career began during that time.

What's even more interesting about what Cee Lo said during his rap was how it reflects the current state of how people receive their information and what they base their beliefs and morals off of.

A 2012 study by LifeWay Research showed that only 19 percent of the Protestant churchgoers they interviewed read the Bible each day.

Even though Cee Lo appears to have pointed out something alarming in Christian culture, his personal faith has been questioned in the past.

A Hollowverse analysis of Green pointed out that he altered lyrics during a cover of John Lennon's song "Imagine" during the 2012 New Year's celebration in Times Square, singing "all religion is true" instead of the original words, "no religion too." The site claims he is more of a pantheist than Christian.

Cee Lo also sang the song "Mary Did You Know" in 2012. The song's video consisted of footage from the Mark Burnett produced series "The Bible." Both the song and video featured strong Christian themes.
