'The Walking Dead' News: Universal Studios Opens New Ride Based on 'The Walking Dead' Series
Universal Studios Opens Doors to Zombies and the Undead
Even though the new season of "The Walking Dead" is still a few months away, fans will be able to enjoy the horrors of the hit show. Universal Studios has recently announced a new addition to their theme park -- a ride based on "The Walking Dead."
Bringing the Undead to Life
"The Walking Dead" attraction is expected to be released this week. The said ride will feature the West Georgia Correctional Facility and Terminus as seen on the show. The notorious "Dead Inside" doors will also be shown in the new attraction.
Those who are brave enough to experience the thrill need to follow the steps of the "The Walking Dead" characters as they go through an obstacle-packed maze. The ride also has animatronics and 12 zombie performers to make the experience more realistic.
'The Walking Dead' EP Involvement
The executive producer of "The Walking Dead" Greg Nicotero expressed his excitement for the upcoming attraction. He said, "After six years of working on the show, we have a great opportunity to take The Walking Dead out of the studio, off the soundstage, and put it into the attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood where guests can come face-to-face with the walking dead."
Nicotero was heavily involved in the creation of the new attraction. He was part of the creative team behind "The Walking Dead" ride, giving input on the animatronics that will be used. Through his involvement, fans can look forward to seeing how all seasons of the series were incorporated into the ride. Also, Nicotero and his team went through several fan sites and blogs to find out which scenes were the scariest to fans.
"The Walking Dead" ride at Universal Studios is not recommended for riders younger than 13 years old due to the sensitive, gory material. Universal Studios will open the new attraction on July 2.
