'The Walking Dead' Season 4 Spoilers: 'No Protection' for Characters (VIDEO)
"The Walking Dead" returns to AMC with the rest of the fourth season this Sunday, Feb. 9, and the show's director is offering some spoilers.
"This is the first time since Season 1 where they don't have any protection," Greg Nicotero told Deadline amidst the show's mid-season break.
The executive producer and director of "The Walking Dead" went on to predict how the audience will feel during the next season.

"You get a sweeping sense of the world again," he said. "And our characters are thrust back in it."
Nicotero was joined at the TV Academy by creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman and other key players behind the scenes at "The Walking Dead," with the exception of its star- Andrew Lincoln, who portrays the lead role of Rick Grimes. The actor is suffering from a cold, according to reports.
"I am so sorry I am not (able) to attend this event, but I am currently the walking dead tonight," Lincoln said in a statement.
Meanwhile, season four of "The Walking Dead" premiered back in October and garnered its largest audience yet with a whopping 16.1 million viewers. The remainder of the season begins Feb. 9 after a break that has exceeded two months.
Unsurprisingly, anxious fans are left wondering what the season has in store, and actress Danai Gurira has some answers. The star portrays Michonne on the show and discussed how everyone will deal with the fact that Hershel was executed before several witnesses.
"I mean, really what everyone has to do is process and survive," the actress told Entertainment Weekly. "But they have to survive, and will they even have the time or space to process? Of course they live in an apocalypse where there's no more walls and there's no more protection, so how is everybody going to handle this loss? It could go any which way. How do we navigate this world while still trying to metabolize all these losses and grievances? This is a volatile moment. This is a scary moment for everybody."
Gurira also offered hints about something big happening for her character.
"What's interesting for Michonne is that she is on the tip of something," she said. "She was on the tip of something in those first eight episodes. Was she going to settle in? Was she starting to open up? Then the trauma hit and I think the big question is, will this clam her back up or open her up?"
AMC has renewed "The Walking Dead" for a fifth season.
