'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: Does Haircut Indicate Character Is Going To Die In Season 6B?
In the world of the "Walking Dead" comic book series, the arrival of Negan (to be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) spells the beginning of the end for one of the most beloved "TWD" characters, Glenn Rhee (played by Steven Yeun in the AMC TV series). However, it is not Glenn who fans fear could be killed off when "The Walking Dead" returns in February. Rather, it's his "TWD" wife Maggie (played by Lauren Cohan) who appears to be in danger of getting axed.
Speculations about Maggie's fate in Season 6B were ignited by Lauren Cohan's new short hairstyle. The actress stepped out on Dec. 11 for Z100's Jingle Ball 2015, which was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The actress appeared at the event with a different hairstyle - a very short one - that is unlike the one she sports in the first half of "The Walking Dead" Season 6. This has led fans to believe that Maggie could die in Season 6B. After all, certain hairstyles are typically written into the contracts of TV actors - many are prohibited from cutting their hair until after their stint on the show. Take, for example, the constant scrutinizing of actor Kit Harington's hair for clues to future events in HBO's "Game of Thrones."
But there may be another explanation for Maggie's suddenly-short hair. In the "Walking Dead" comic books, Maggie cuts her hair short when she moves to the prison with Glenn. Glenn then decides to shave his entire head. Thus, even though TV fans are worried that short hair may mean death for Maggie, comic book fans are not so troubled.
However, recent photos of Steven Yeun show him with a full head of hair. Could this mean that Glenn will be killed by Negan when the show returns and thus will never have the opportunity to shave his head? Could it be Glenn's death that moves Maggie to cut her hair?
Season 6 of "The Walking Dead" resumes on AMC on Feb. 14, 2016.
