'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Episodes 11 and 12 Recap, Spoilers: Dwight Shows His Humanity

With the harshness of the seemingly post-apocalyptic world of "The Walking Dead," it is fairly easy to lose all heart and be callous to protect one's own wits. In the last episode, however, one of the hated antagonists, primarily because he contrasts Daryl (Norman Reedus), reveals a deeper side of him.

Episode 11 dubbed "Hostiles and Calamities" were filled with revelations here and there, but probably the most noteworthy was how Dwight (Austin Amelio) demonstrated just how much heart he has left. Dwight pieces the clues together and learns that it was Sherry (Christine Evangelista) who let Daryl out of the cage.

Despite knowing this, he opted to rat her out to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) who in turns suspects that it was him who let Daryl escape all along. He gets beaten up but remains tight-lipped and ends up being tasked to track down Sherry.

In AMC's official website, Amelio gives light on the events of the episode. "He (Daryl) represents his past and when Dwight looks at him, he doesn't want to see that," Amelio explains. "It's almost like a mirror reflection of his past. Dwight sees the guy that he used to be and he went against his morals and values by succumbing to this world. That's not something he wants to be reminded of every day."

Aside from his character's feelings towards Daryl, he also talks about Sherry, who he protected from Negan. "She's the love of his life. From here on out, I think it's the only thing he has left, so she really is what he's fighting for."

Meanwhile, the upcoming episode is not going to be any easier. More human connection is seen in the trailer for episode 12, where Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) were supposed to be on a leisurely ride when it turns for the worst after seeing walkers. How they'll survive is something fans will have to stay tuned for to find out.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 episode 12 titled "Say Yes" will be airing on Sunday, March 5, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
