'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Finale Spoilers: Battle Against the Saviors to Result in Losses and Betrayal

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will not end without someone's death. Like last year's season ender, this season will not conclude without casualties.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Scott Gimple revealed that "The Walking Dead" season 7 will claim some lives.

After all, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and company are waging war against The Saviors with the help of Hilltop, the Sanctuary, the Kingdom, the junkyard and even the Oceanside.

"Well, there are losses," Gimple revealed. "As the stakes get higher and higher ... things start to get more intense and heartbreaking, and yet everyone has to sort of band together and keep going," he went on to say.

As hinted by Rick in the previous episode of "The Walking Dead" season 7, this war will result in the loss of many people from their group and the other communities. Who these people will be remains to be seen for now.

Apart from deaths, "The Walking Dead" season 7 finale will also feature betrayals, which suggests that during the warfare against The Saviors, some people might switch sides.

Gimple detailed this as he compared the season 7 finale from last year's season ender, which saw Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) brutally murdered by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

"[Season 6's finale] was the noose tightening and things getting darker and darker," the showrunner explained. "This season's finale has darkness and light, real horrific moments, betrayal, and real moments of beauty, redemption, love and friendship. It's sort of the panoply of human and Walking Dead experience," he went on to say.

For now, fans are happy to know that Carol (Melissa McBride) appears to have decided to go back to her badass self again to help her friends deal with The Saviors in "The Walking Dead" season 7, episode 13, which airs today.

It also looks like Ezekiel (Khary Payton) is done playing nice with Negan's people, which could lead to his alliance with Rick's group.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
