The previous episode of "The Walking Dead," titled "New Best Friends," saw Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and some of his comrades meeting a new group of survivors--the Scavengers. This new group is led by Pollyanna McIntosh's Jadis, who declined to join Rick's cause at first. In order to win her approval, Rick was forced to go against an armored walker. Rick's win eventually convinced Jadis and the Scavengers to join the Alexandrians, but they want weapons and supplies in exchange.

The Scavengers' appearance has been welcomed warmly by critics, especially their eccentric leader, Jadis.

McIntosh recently sat down with Variety to talk about her character and what the addition of the Scavengers means for the show.

"I definitely don't see myself, as Jadis, as a villain at all," the actress revealed. "I'm a survivor and a leader, and I've taken pretty good care of this group. And I think she's done a pretty good job when you see the size of it."

She also highlighted the morality of the characters, saying that not even the protagonists are clean of any wrongdoing. "Morality in this day and age is a hard thing to hold onto," McIntosh added. "The audience sees Rick and his group as the good guys, but even they have all sorts of morality issues."

"The Walking Dead" season 7 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
