'The Walking Dead' Season 8 News, Release Date: Carol Gets Back Into Action

"The Walking Dead" actress Melissa McBride revealed that her character will have intense action sequences in the next installment of the hit zombie apocalypse series, saying Carol will be "armed" and "blowing things up" in season 8.

The upcoming season of "The Walking Dead" will find Rick and his party taking on Negan and the Saviors after forming alliances with other groups of survivors. The previous installment found the protagonists down in the dumps, as some got separated from one another and suffered at the hands of their major adversary.

One of the major characters who endured a lot in season 7 was Carol, who intentionally left her group so she could isolate herself and deal with her sudden dislike for killing. While many fans wondered if the female character would stay this way in the show's next cycle, McBride revealed that her character will rise up and fight again in season 8.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, McBride revealed that Carol will be back in action in the upcoming installment and will be part of the fight against Negan, unlike in season 7 when she stayed in a cabin the whole time.

"There is a lot of action. There is so much action. Carol's armed. She's blowing things up, so cover your ears!" said McBride.

The actress also revealed that as the new season premieres, Carol will feel the "call of duty," especially now that she already knows what Negan has done to her friends and the other Alexandrians. There are also speculations that there might be some tension brewing between Carol and either Ezekiel or Rick at some point in season 8, since she is seen as a member of both the Kingdom and the Alexandrians.

The premiere episode of season 8 will mark "The Walking Dead's" 100th episode.

"The Walking Dead" returns for its eighth season on Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
