'The Walking Dead' Season 8: Andrew Lincoln Teases More Terrifying Episodes

"The Walking Dead" season 7 is about to wrap up its most tormenting run but the series promises to get back to its horrific roots as it returns for season 8. Actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, recently revealed that season 8 will get even bigger and more terrifying than the previous seasons.

In season 7, fans saw how the turn of events left their favorite characters broken and beaten. According to Lincoln, the season 7 finale will feature plenty of action and will find the heroes finally ready to stand up to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Previous interviews with "The Walking Dead" stars also revealed that the season 7 finale will leave Rick's group feeling fulfilled.

Talking about the season 7 finale, Lincoln told the LA Times, "We're going to come out swinging. And it's not going to stop."

While the season 7 finale will leave the major characters triumphant, Lincoln teased that the next phase for Rick and the rest of the Alexandrians will get even crazier.

"I'm more excited for season 8 than I've ever been. I think it's going to be big, but it's also going to be terrifying. And I mean that from the very depths of my cynical soul," he said.

Lincoln did not go into the details of the upcoming season but hinted that it has a lot of exciting things in store for fans. It also sounds like season 8 will feature more zombie horror.

Season 7 opened with a gruesome start, with the barbaric villain Negan torturing Sgt. Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) to death. The bat-wielding villain also sadistically toyed with forcing Lincoln's character to cut off the arm of his own son, Carl (Chandler Riggs).

"The Walking Dead" season 7 finale airs on Sunday, April 2 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
