'The Walking Dead' Season 8 Spoilers: The Saviors' New Weapon Gets in Rick's Way
"The Walking Dead" said goodbye to another major character in "Monsters," and the death will have some lasting effects.
The latest episode saw Aaron (Ross Marquand) leaving a severely wounded Eric (Jordan Woods-Robinson) by a tree before being urged to get back to battle. While things initially seemed to get better, Aaron returned to find that Eric had already turned into a walker. It is a sight that definitely affected Aaron deeply, and Woods-Robinson recently talked to Entertainment Weekly about how that will play out in the next episodes.
"I feel so bad for Aaron because that's just something that can break a person," Woods-Robinson said. "And we might see that in the next couple episodes with the character wrestling with that knowledge."
The actor also revealed that showrunner Scott M. Gimple had informed him ahead of time that his character was going to die. Thankfully, Eric did not perish the same violent way he did in the comic books. Instead, more focus was given to Eric's relationship with Aaron, allowing for the couple to somewhat say their goodbyes.
"I was just really happy that their relationship was so important and in many ways the relationship is still there," Woods-Robinson said.
Fans should prepare themselves for the upcoming fourth episode of season 8, titled "Some Guy." As Gimple previously teased, the first four episodes are "the most intense string of episodes" of season 8.
The synopsis for "Some Guy" reveals that the Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors will come into the possession of a new weapon that will put a damper on Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) efforts to defeat them.
Although "The Walking Dead" is currently tackling the "All-Out War" arc, fans need not worry about the show running out of content. In fact, as AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan said earlier this month, the franchise could stick around for as much as 50 years.
"The use of the word 'franchise,' we don't take lightly. It's not a sloppy or casual word. We've studied the best. Some have been around 30, 40, 50 years. We have a chance for a lot of life in the franchise," Sapan said, as reported by Deadline.
"The Walking Dead" season 8 airs Sundays, at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
