'The Witcher 3' Blood and Wine DLC Release Date: Upcoming Content Is Several Months Off, Confirms CD Projekt RED
"The Witcher 3" Blood and Wine DLC is the final expansion pack for the game that is scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of this year. However, a new update from developer CD Projekt RED seems to indicate that the DLC will launch toward the latter part of the stated release window.
This new information was revealed through the developer's official Twitter handle. Replying to a question about the starting level for Blood and Wine, CD Projekt RED replied:
"@berserk4384 Hey Joseph, we'll be revealing more about Blood and Wine in the coming months."
The Blood and Wine DLC wasn't released in January, and it looks like it won't be available this month or next. To make good on its promise, CD Projekt RED needs to have the update available by April, according to multiple industry followers.
Blood and Wine will introduce a new region called Toussaint. The new realm was revealed in December. Michal Platkow-Gilewski, CD Projekt RED's marketing lead, said previously that the new map would rival the size of the initial world found in the game.
In this new location, the game's protagonist Geralt will have new gear to battle new enemies. The upcoming pack will also give Geralt new quests to take, new monsters to face, and new places of interest to explore. In addition, the developer had also previously hinted how the upcoming expansion pack will include "dearly missed" characters as well. The developer hasn't revealed who these might be, though.
The upcoming DLC will add around 20 hours of gameplay, which is twice as many hours as Hearts of Stone, the game's first add-on content that was released in October. The additional hours should be a blast for players as the studio had commented last month that Blood and Wine will be "more refined."
"The Witcher 3's" Blood and Wine expansion pack will reportedly bring Geralt's journey to a close. Fortunately, Blood and Wine might not be the last for the game as recent interviews suggest more content will be added after the DLC's launch.
