The Woman With the Issue of Blood
Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.
Mark 5:25-26
As soon as this woman heard about Jesus, she wanted to go to Him. Why? She had surely heard that Jesus heals the sick. She came to Jesus despite the fact that no doctor had been able to help her. She could easily have been too disappointed and bitter to trust yet another’s effort to help her. But she had not allowed circumstances to discourage her, and when she heard about Jesus, she responded immediately.
To reach Jesus she had to struggle through the crowds, undoubtedly pushing and shoving all the way. She was not going to let people stand in the way of her miracle. The opinions, indifference or reluctance of others often rise up like a mountain, to hinder us from reaching Jesus. But we must never allow anything to stand in the way of what Jesus wants to do in our life!

This woman reasoned that merely touching the edge of Jesus’ robe would bring about healing. And the moment she touched the tassel of His robe, a stream of healing flowed through her body. In the Old Testament the tassel on the robe represented God’s covenant word, meaning that when she touched the tassel, by faith, she touched the very promises of God.
Jesus immediately felt power go out from Him. The disciples thought He was crazy to be asking who had touched Him when there were scores of people reaching out to Him. But there was only one who had touched Him in faith. There was only one who had expected healing. She had heard about Him, and believed that He could heal her. She verbalized her thoughts, saying, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well” (verse 28). She acted on her words and pressed forward to touch Jesus. And Jesus responded immediately, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction” (verse 34).
Follow the example of this bold woman of faith, and you, too, will see a miracle!
