'The X-Files' Season 11 Spoilers: New Featurette Promises a Lot of Spooning, Returning Characters and More
Those who are hoping for Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Mulder (David Duchovny) to just be a couple already will have a lot to look forward to in "The X-Files" season 11.
In a brand-new featurette, there were glimpses of the pair getting a little too close physically. Mulder can be seen spooning Scully in bed more than once.
Over the course of the show, what has been established is that the pair has a very complicated relationship as far as romance goes, but the search for their son in "The X-Files" season 11 will likely bring them together much closer.
In the same featurette, Anderson teased that Scully and Mulder will be "closer" than they have ever been. She joked:
I'd say we're kind of back to where we were originally, but without the sexual tension because we already had sex.
Duchovny has also teased in the past to TVLine that "The X-Files" season 11 will not be short of "definite intimations of hanky-panky" and it certainly is on display in the new clip.
Following a mixed reception to their first attempt to revive the science fiction hit, creator Chris Carter and the cast are more confident this season will iron out the kinks of the previous season.
Anderson promised that it will be "more like quintessential X-Files this season," which fans who were disappointed about how different the recent one is will definitely be happy to hear. After all, many familiar faces will be returning — the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis), Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) and even Spender (Chris Owens).
"The X-Files" season 11 will have 10 episodes, as opposed to six. Duchovny believes that the increased number of hours is great for the story they are telling:
We're doing ten this year as opposed to six, and I think doing six was difficult because we had to reintroduce the characters. We're better set up to get pack to the partnership and the banter that comes with that.
"The X-Files" season 11 premieres Wednesday, Jan. 3 on FOX. Filming just recently wrapped with Anderson taking to Twitter to celebrate the milestone.
